About the Southeast Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce & Tourism: SEGBAY
The Southeast Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce & Tourism serves as the voice and advocate for small and medium-sized businesses in Southwest Muskoka and North Simcoe. We seek to boost businesses, economic development and tourism, networking opportunities to expand membership and local/regional influence with key municipal and community stakeholders. As we move forward in 2025, we are implementing exciting new initiatives to enhance member engagement, promote events and tourism throughout our target area and continuously improve the quality of community experiences.
We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven leader/manager to serve as our next Executive Director. This individual will oversee daily Chamber operations, execute our board strategic objectives, work closely with businesses, community leaders, and local government to drive economic success through both business and tourism channels.

Work Environment – Office Hours at the Bressette Homestead and Flex hours:
The role of Executive Director comes with the flexibility of a hybrid work model, keeping some office hours and some remote work to balance the needs of the role. SEGBAY runs/participates in several events throughout the year some of which occur on evenings and weekends which would be counted towards the out of office hours. SEGBAY holds monthly Board meetings which the Executive Director attends and these meetings normally take place on Tuesday afternoons.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategic Execution: Implement and manage the Chamber’s strategic vision, ensuring all initiatives align with member needs and economic growth.
- Member Engagement & Community Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with members, stakeholders, municipal partners, and the broader business community. A key focus for SEGBAY is growing the membership so the role includes a priority on actively seeking and attracting new members to build the Chamber.
- Fundraising & Revenue Growth: Develop sponsorships, funding opportunities, and partnerships to enhance the Chamber’s financial sustainability.
- Event Planning & Execution: Oversee and plan networking business and tourism events, business workshops, and other initiatives that drive value for members.
- Marketing & Social Media: Manage and enhance the Chamber’s online presence, including social media, newsletters, and digital communications.
- Financial & Budget Management: Maintain fiscal responsibility, ensuring Chamber operations are up to date (QuickBooks), that A/R is closely monitored and monthly reports are provided to the Executive and the Board. SEGBAY has a 10 hour per week employee who handles invoicing, event booking and payables who will provide key assistance to the Executive Director.
- Governance & Reporting: Report to the Board of Directors monthly, providing updates on Chamber activities, financials, and including efficient execution of goals and objectives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in nonprofit leadership/management, new business development, economic development, or a related field.
- Strong fundraising, sponsorship, and grant results.
- Exceptional community relations, public speaking, and networking skills.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging events that provide value to members.
- Experience with budgeting and financial management.
- Social media and digital marketing skills to enhance Chamber on-line presence.
- A passion for small and medium enterprises (SME’s) and local business growth.
- Basic bookkeeping knowledge would be an asset as would experience with QuickBooks.
